If you are interested in spending as little time (and money!)
grooming your dog as possible, a first generation Labradoodle is
your best bet. These dogs often have a 'hair' coat that requires
very little in terms of maintenance, but does usually shed
somewhat. So there is a trade-off between amount of shedding
and time spent grooming. As you can see below, shedding coast
ARE found in the F1B generation. Luke is an F1B Labradoodle!
First generation (F1) Goldendoodles often also have hair coats,
but sometimes shed less than a first generation (F1) Labradoodle.
They usually require slightly more brushing than a first generation
Labradoodle to prevent matting.
It is important to understand that most F1 are NOT
allergy-friendly, and F1 are not a good choice for families
with dog allergies. F1B Labradoodles and Goldendoodles
can also have shedding coats, so it is important to work
with an experienced breeder who can recognize these
coats in young puppies before they are paired with families.
