Iodoform powder Mix well. Keep in a sealed jar or ziplock bag in a cool dry place. Ear Maintenance Place a large pinch of powder in each ear and work it into the ear with your finger. Repeat monthly. Treating an ear infection Use a dry Q-tip to remove all the powder and the balls of dried gunk. Use a Q-tip and any standard ear flush solution to gently clean. Put a fresh pinch of powder in each ear. Repeat 2X daily until the ears are no longer runny. As ears improve, reduce to daily for a few days, then repeat every other day, then three times a week, then twice, then weekly, then every other week, etc. When the ears remain dry for three weeks, go to the monthly maintenance routine. FORTIFIED MILK MIX (from Joyce) one cup of milk (I ALWAYS) USE CANNED/FRESH Goat's Milk one teaspoon of honey (natural is best) one raw egg yolk (or two) 1/8 teaspoon of Vit C. powder 1/8 teaspoon Vit. B 1/4 teaspoon Cod Liver Oil Squirt one gelcap of Vit E on top after mixing. LIVER BROTH (from Dixie)(to support weak puppies) Boil a big piece of beef liver in some water for 5 minutes. Use just enough water to cover. Drain the broth and throw the liver away. Put 4 drops on their tongues every 2 hours for 12 hours, then every 4 hours for two days. (Editor's note: you may want to consider using organic beef liver if you can find it. The liver processes toxins and pesticides, so traditionally raised beef liver may have lots of that stuff in it) |
